Nostalgia as therapy? 1950s-themed Brick senior center aims to stir memories

BRICK, NJ – A vintage car, portraits of silver screen movie stars and imagery from a past time will decorate the walls of a new senior center in the Laurel Square shopping plaza off Route 88.
Called “Town Square,” the center is designed as an adult day enrichment program that triggers youthful memories. Its “storefronts,” movie theater, diner, bocce court and garden center aim to entertain seniors in a nostalgic environment and help those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia recall the past.
