Hurricane Relief Efforts: Local Resources for Seniors and Caregivers in our Community
Hurricane Support
Town Square University Parkway extends its support to families impacted by Hurricane Milton, recognizing the ongoing challenges they face in the wake of this disaster. In light of the struggles with power outages, food insecurity, and limited essential transportation, we are committed to assisting our members during this difficult time. Community support is vital as we come together to help each other navigate the aftermath and work towards recovery.
Caregivers of individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s encounter a multitude of challenges, including heightened confusion and anxiety, fears of wandering or elopement, and scarce resources that complicate their ability to provide care. Such stressors are exacerbated in crisis situations, where logistical issues like power outages, gas shortages, and debris can hinder access to essential medications and limit communication with family and friends, leaving caregivers more isolated and overwhelmed by their responsibilities.
How can our team help families during this time?
Town Square University Parkway remains committed to supporting seniors and caregivers in our community, with minimal damage to our facility. We are a full resource center, providing connections to local services. Our doors are open to the public, offering free access to air conditioning and Wi-Fi during operational hours to ensure the well-being and comfort of those in need.
We are also offering FREE health assessments by appointment for seniors struggling during this time. These assessments include cognitive, physical, and depression scale tests. All families receiving a free assessment will also receive a free educational book to guide them through their caregiving journey.
